Walsh Lake Triathlon

Walsh Lake Triathlon takes place at Walsh Lake Park in Fort Worth, Texas. The event offers two race options with measured swim, bike, and run segments:

• Sprint Triathlon: 500-meter lake swim, 12-mile bike (2 loops), 5K run
• My First Super Sprint Triathlon: 200-meter lake swim, 6-mile bike (1 loop), 2 mile run

The race is sanctioned by USA Triathlon and USAT rules are enforced. A USAT annual membership or a one-day license is required to compete. Water temperature is measured one hour before the race and results are announced that morning. Wetsuit and temperature guidance is provided with the following thresholds as listed by the organizer: 84.0 F and above prohibited; 78.1 to 84.0 F allowed but ineligible for rankings or age-group awards; 60.7 to 78.0 F permitted; 60.6 F mandatory. The swim course closes 30 minutes after the last sprint-distance swimmer enters the water.

Race logistics include chip timing, body marking required before entering transition, and packet pickup procedures governed by USAT rules; athletes must show photo ID at packet pickup. Cutoff targets are published for each leg: swim 25 minutes, bike 90 minutes, run 60 minutes, with total completion not to exceed three hours. All finishers receive a finisher medal; race tee and awards are provided according to published categories. A virtual race option is available with tee and medal mailed afterward.
