Fort Worth YMCA Turkey Trot
The Fort Worth YMCA Turkey Trot is an annual community event held on Thanksgiving morning in Downtown Fort Worth. Established in 1981, this tradition takes place at General Worth Square and is recognized as one of the largest races in the state of Texas. The event provides a variety of distances to accommodate different participants, with proceeds directed toward supporting local families in need.
Participants can choose from the following event options:
- 1K Youth Gobbler Trot: A non-timed fun run where registered parents may accompany their children.
- 5K Timed: A timed running race with finisher medals available for the first 10,000 finishers.
- 8K Timed: A timed running race with finisher medals available for the first 2,000 finishers.
The first 600 youth finishers in the 1K event are also eligible for a finisher award. All participants must wear their assigned runner bibs to be eligible for medals and awards. The race atmosphere is designed for families and has been a local tradition for over four decades. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
