Event Overview
The Waddington Fell Race is a fell running event organized by Bowland Fell Runners. It takes place on Sunday, September 27th, starting from Waddington Village Club in Waddington, near Clitheroe.
Course Details
The race is categorized as BM (medium length with significant climb). The course measures approximately 11.3 km (7 miles) with 415 m (1,362 ft) of ascent. It includes a checkpoint at the trig point on Waddington Fell.
Important Information
Registration takes place at Waddington Village Club (Clitheroe Road, BB7 3HW). Entry on the day costs £5. The race start is a three-minute walk from the registration point, near St Helen's Church and the Lower Buck pub.
Participants are required to carry a waterproof top at minimum. Depending on weather conditions on the day, full FRA-recommended race kit may be mandatory. This includes waterproof top and bottoms, hat, gloves, emergency food, whistle, map, and compass.
Race Logistics
Parking in the village is limited; car sharing is encouraged. Limited free public parking is available on Twitter Lane and opposite the school on West Bradford Road.
There is a cut-off point at the track near Summit House Farm, approximately 3.86 km into the race. Runners must reach this point within 45 minutes. Mountain rescue services will be present, and any surplus race funds will be donated to them.
The route will be well marshalled and partially flagged. Water will be available at the finish line, and participants are asked to bring their own cup. Post-race prizegiving will be held at the Village Club, with awards for first male and female finishers, all age category winners (U23, M/F40 to M/F80), and teams of three.
