About the race

Virginia Run for Cancer is a 24 hour solo and team endurance event held in Hampton, VA, at 1255 Big Bethel Road. The event takes place on a flat 3.75 mile all-dirt nature park loop that is USATF certified (VA12075RT).

Awards include special engraved plaques for first place male, female, team, and fundraiser. Wooden completion plaques are given at 50, 62.5, 75, 100, and 125 miles. Course records listed are 135 miles for men, 131 miles for women, and 1052.75 miles for a team. Repeat participants can earn 500-mile club jackets and 1000-mile buckles. The event has raised a lifetime total of $310,000 for the American Cancer Society.

Registration opens January 1, is limited to 200 entries, and the entry fee is $75. Pacers are allowed after dark. Volunteer lap counters are provided, and organizers also seek volunteers to assist with lap counting. On-site liquid refreshments are supplied; runners are expected to bring their own food and hydration, and pizza may be provided for dinner. Participants should bring flashlights for night running.
