UTE 100 Mile

The UTE 100 is an ultramarathon event in the La Sal Mountains near Moab, Utah, taking place in August. It offers three distances: 100 miles, 50 miles, and 50k.

Course Details

The 100-mile and 50-mile courses are single loops starting at the base of the La Sal Mountains just before sunrise. The 100-mile route circumnavigates the La Sal range and reaches the highest point of any race in Utah at 12,272 feet on Manns Peak. The course features Porcupine singletrack with views of Castle Valley and the Moab desert, technical scree above tree-line, and a long section on Dark Canyon Road. It has over 25,000 feet of cumulative elevation gain and an average elevation over 8,700 feet. Aid stations are well-stocked with food and drinks, including hot items. Pacers are allowed for the 100-mile race from approximately mile 42, and for the 50-mile race from approximately mile 15.

The 50k course remains unchanged from the previous year.

Event Logistics

The start and finish area is located off La Sal Loop Road near Miners Basin Road, about a 50-minute drive from Moab. There is plentiful parking near the start line. Several campgrounds are available nearby, including Mason Draw Campground and Warner Lake Campground, as well as dispersed camping options. Crews can access specific aid stations, all reachable by standard 2WD vehicles. Registration includes a gender-specific race shirt, a BOCO hat, a personalized bib, a post-race meal, and finisher awards (a belt buckle for the 100-mile distance).
