Canyonlands Ultra : Moab, Utah
Canyonlands Ultra is a multi-distance trail running event held in Moab in the fall. The event offers the following distances:
- 100K
- 50 Mile
- 50K
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
- 15K
Courses run on Moab trails with varied terrain that includes sandy washes and technical double track. Routes pass near the La Sal Mountains, sandstone domes, and canyon scenery. Course maps and GPS files are provided for each distance.
Elevation on the courses reaches up to 5,725 feet and descends to about 4,516 feet on some loops. Total elevation gain varies by distance, with multi-loop options used for the 50 Mile and 100K distances.
The event is cup-less: runners must bring a reusable cup or similar container. Water dispensers are available at aid stations and the start/finish to refill bladders, bottles, and reusable cups. Aid station details, mileage, cutoffs, drop bag allowances, and crew information are provided in the race materials.
Packet pickup occurs at the start area the day before the race; a photo ID is required to receive a packet. Race-day check-in and packet pickup are also held at the starting line. Free camping is available at the Mad Moose Base Camp for participants and their family or crew. Parking attendants will direct parking; improper parking may result in BLM-issued tickets.
All participants receive a race shirt, a BOCO hat, and a finisher's medal. Runners must attach their timing chip to a shoe to record a time. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
