Arches Marathon and Half
The Arches Marathon and Half is a trail running event held in Moab, Utah, featuring a variety of distances set against the backdrop of red canyons and rock formations. The race takes place in the fall, with the course winding through the desert landscape near the Behind the Rocks Wilderness Study Area.
Participants can choose from four different distances:
- 15k
- Half Marathon
- Marathon
- 50k
The terrain consists of sandy double track and jeep roads that lead through desert meadows and alongside majestic red cliffs. Many of the routes offer views of the La Sal Mountains and Picture Frame Arch. The courses feature varying levels of elevation, with the 50k reaching a maximum height of 5726 feet and an elevation gain of 2979 feet.
This is a cup-less event, meaning runners are required to bring their own reusable containers for hydration. Water dispensers are provided at the start/finish area and at all aid stations. Logistics for the event include a central start and finish line accessible via a technical dirt road suitable for two-wheel-drive vehicles. Free camping is available specifically for participants and their families at the event site, offering views of the Moab desert. Registered runners receive a custom race shirt, a trucker hat, and a finisher medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
