John Wayne Grit Series - Moab
The John Wayne Grit Series - Moab is a trail running event held on September 26, 2026, in the Moab area. Courses start roughly 20 miles outside Moab on the Hollywood Western Equestrian Trails in the Onion Creek trail area. The route passes red cliffs, mesas and grasslands and includes single track trails, horse trails and fire roads with views of Castle Tower, Priests and Nuns, and Fisher Towers.
Distances offered:
- Half Marathon
- 10K
The event supports fundraising with a stated goal of $80,000 and shows 64% of that goal reached. There is a race component with podium prizes: three female and three male winners for each course, for a total of 12 podium medals and prizes. The event is cup less; aid stations will not provide cups. Runners should bring a hydration pack or handheld bottle with a large opening for volunteer refill. Finishers receive a shirt and a finisher mug.
Packet pickup is scheduled for September 25, 2026, at Homewood Suites in Moab. Shuttles will operate from a gravel pit parking lot to the start area, and there is no parking at the start/finish area. Pacing and muling are not allowed and may result in disqualification.
Weekend activities are centered at Red Cliffs Lodge and include a dinner with paired beverages, a movie premiere, a free community event with music and food trucks, and a post-run Grit Down / Burger Bash. Cancer survivors who register may receive a complimentary yellow bandana at packet pickup while supplies last. Merchandise will be available for sale at the event.
