Turkey Trot 5K Run and Fitness Walk
The Turkey Trot is an annual running and walking event in Fountain Hills held on Thanksgiving morning, November 26. The course goes around the fountain at Fountain Park and begins on Avenue of the Fountains just east of Verde River Drive. The event includes a costume contest and provides a long-sleeved event shirt with registration.
Distances offered:
- 5K timed run
- 1.5 mile fitness walk
Pre-registration is required; there is no onsite registration on event day. Registration opens July 1. Pricing is tiered by registration period:
- Earlybird (until Nov 1): 5K $35, 5K (12 and under) $20, Fitness Walk $20, plus tax and processing fees.
- Standard (Nov 2–15): 5K $40, 5K (12 and under) $25, Fitness Walk $25, plus tax and processing fees.
- Late (Nov 16–25): 5K $45, 5K (12 and under) $30, Fitness Walk $30, plus tax and processing fees.
Early bird registrants may pick up shirts and bibs in advance during a designated early packet pick-up. Packet pick-up for all participants takes place at the Fountain Hills Community Center the days before the event. All finishers in both the 5K and fitness walk receive a finisher medal at the finish line; medals cannot be picked up early or after the race.
Awards are given to the top three males and females in each age category, ranging from 12 and under through 80 plus. Participants are asked to leave pets at home. Parking at the Town Hall and Community Center is encouraged but the lot will be closed while the race is in progress. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
