Tunnel to Towers Tower Climb Chicago
The Tunnel to Towers Tower Climb in Chicago is a vertical stair-climbing event held at 150 North Riverside Plaza. Participants start at ground level in the park adjacent to the building and ascend to the 50th floor. The event features a right-winding stairwell where the number of steps varies per flight. The climb is chip-timed, with sensors attached to the back of the participant bibs to record finish times.
The event has an operational capacity of 500 participants. Registration is open to several categories:
- Adult Registration
- First Responders & Military Registration
- Youth Registration (ages 13 to 17)
All participants must be at least 12 years old to take part in the climb. First responders and military personnel are permitted to wear uniforms and gear, such as bunker or turnout suits and service uniforms. Ruck climbers carrying weighted rucksacks are also welcome.
Water stations are located at the start and finish lines, though none are provided inside the stairwell. Because of space and security restrictions on the 50th floor, spectators are not permitted at the finish line and should remain in the park area. Participants receive an event t-shirt and a finisher's medal upon completion. Following the initial timed climb, there may be an opportunity for a second, untimed ascent once all waves have departed.
The building is located near the river with access to public transportation. Parking is very limited and may require a fee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
