Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk - Columbia, SC
The Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk in Columbia takes place at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center on September 4, 2026. The event honors first responders and remembers those lost on September 11, 2001 while raising funds to build smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans.
This is a 5K course open to walkers and runners. The event uses chip timing for registrants who complete online registration, although some registration categories may not include a timing chip. Registration categories include adult ($30), first responder and military ($25), youth ages 13 to 17 ($10), child 12 and under ($5), and certain military or base registrations listed with no fee. Registration opens April 15, 2026 and some categories have earlier closing dates; online registration closes on September 4, 2026. Packet pickup is scheduled at the convention center on September 3 and September 4. Shirt sizes are not guaranteed for late registrants and all sales are final; transfers to another participant are permitted.
Course support includes at least two water stations along the route and water at the finish. Participants must display their bib on the front of their outer garment. Strollers, backpacks, and wheelchairs are allowed; roller blades and bicycles are not. Dogs are permitted on leash in accordance with local ordinance. The event provides participation medals and individual awards for overall, master, grand master, and age group top finishers. A firefighter team competition offers a traveling award with specific turnout gear requirements. Volunteer roles and fundraising opportunities are part of the event program.
