Dam Triathlon at Lake Murray Public Park
The event is held at Lake Murray Public Park in Lexington, South Carolina, and includes multiple race formats conducted around the Lake Murray Dam. The main Sprinternational triathlon includes a lake swim, a bike course that uses segments of the dam, and a run entirely on the dam in an out-and-back format.
The swim takes place in the lake as a single large triangular loop starting alongside the spillway. Water temperature is reported to be around 73 degrees, so athletes may be comfortable with or without wetsuits. The bike course is two loops described as mostly flat to rolling; athletes cross the dam four times and return to a nearby transition area. The run follows the dam surface for the full distance.
