About the race
The Run for Resilience Ostomy 5K - Columbia is a community running event held at Sesquicentennial State Park. This inaugural race coincides with Ostomy Awareness Day and serves as a fundraiser for the United Ostomy Associations of America, Inc (UOAA), a nonprofit organization supporting individuals living with an ostomy or continent diversion.
The event features a 5k distance with two distinct registration categories:
- 5k Open Division: Available for all runners.
- 5k Ostomate Division: Specifically for participants living with an ostomy.
The race environment is family friendly and includes local vendors, food, and music. Participants have the option to form or join race groups and teams during the registration process to compete together. The event also incorporates a fundraising program where participants who reach specific individual or team milestones are eligible for various incentives, including registration fee refunds for those who raise a set minimum amount.
Recognition is provided for top finishers, with specific awards designated for the top three participants in the Ostomate Division. The course is located at 9564 Two Notch Rd in Columbia, South Carolina. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
