Event information

The Trigger Fell Race is scheduled for 11 January 2026 and starts at Marsden Cricket Club, Huddersfield (HD7 6NN). The event is organised by Woodhead Mountain Rescue and all profits go to the rescue team. Entries open 14 October 2025 and close 19 December 2025. Minimum age is 18. Maximum entry is 250, with new entrants placed on a waiting list after that. Entry fees are £25 for FRA members and £30 for non-members. SPORTident will provide timing and split times for each leg. The event is dependent on the Snake Pass being open for traffic on the day.

Route and requirements

The race follows a linear route to a field in Edale village, crossing Black Hill, Bleaklow and Kinder. The distance is 24 miles with a total climb of 1650 m. Runners visit seven checkpoints, including two trig points, and must visit every checkpoint in order. Participants must be self-sufficient and arrange their own transport to the start and from the finish. A full FRA standard kit check will take place at registration; required items include a waterproof jacket with hood, waterproof bottoms, hat and gloves, long-sleeved top, head torch, map, compass, whistle, emergency food, an emergency "survival" bag, and shoes suitable for fell running.
