Trigger Fell Race

The Trigger Fell Race is scheduled for 11 January 2026. The event starts at Marsden Cricket Club and finishes in a field in Edale village. The linear route crosses Black Hill, Bleaklow and Kinder and includes seven checkpoints, two of which are trig points. Each runner must visit every checkpoint in order.

Entry and event status

Pre-entry is required and entry on the day is not available. Entry is limited to a maximum of 250 competitors; new entries may be placed on a waiting list when the field is full. The minimum age is 18. Entry fees are listed as £25 for FRA members and £30 for non-members. Entries are vetted for fell running and navigation experience. All profits from the race are donated to Woodhead Mountain Rescue.

Kit, safety and logistics

Runners must be self-sufficient and make their own transport arrangements to the start and from the finish. A full kit check is carried out at registration. Required kit includes a full waterproof jacket with hood and waterproof trousers with taped seams, hat and gloves, map (Dark Peak map acceptable), compass, whistle, emergency food, suitable fell-running shoes, long-sleeved top, head torch and an emergency survival bag (foil or plastic). The course has a total climb of 1650 m. Timing and split times are provided by SPORTident. The event depends on Snake Pass being open for access on the day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
