Event Overview

The Link Challenge is a 20-mile trail run or hike. It takes place on March 21, 2026, starting and finishing at Burrs Country Park in Bury. The route connects six historic villages: Nangreaves, Holcombe, Hawkshaw, Affetside, Ainsworth, and Greenmount.

Event Details

Participants can choose to join as a runner or a hiker. Friendly guides will be on the route to offer support, though participants may also go ahead on their own. Dogs are not permitted. Secure car parking is available at the start and finish.

The entry fee is £34.00. Participants must be 18 or older. Registration opens on March 24, 2025, and closes on March 15, 2026.

What's Included

Entry includes a finisher's neck gaiter, regular checkpoints with food and drink supplies, and secure parking.

Required Kit

Participants must bring specific kit, including:

  • A waterproof jacket and trousers.
  • A spare warm layer, hat, and gloves.
  • The ability to carry at least 1 litre of water and a reusable cup.
  • A fully charged mobile phone with mapping apps, a physical map, and a compass.
  • A whistle, survival blanket, first aid kit, suitable trail footwear, personal snacks, and a head torch.
