The Ultra Loop - Heaton Park, Manchester
The Ultra Loop is an event where participants have up to eight hours to run as many laps as they can on a 5.6 km loop around Heaton Park in Manchester. The route mixes park road and woodland trail, passes the Boating Lake and Heaton Hall, and has about 80 m (262 ft) of elevation per lap. The course is not closed, so runners should expect other park users such as walkers and dog walkers.
Timing and results are recorded at a single start/finish line that also serves as the looping line; results show laps completed, total distance and elapsed time. Any lap not finished before the eight hour cut-off is not included in the final results. All finishers receive a finishing time and a medal. There is a public leaderboard and course records are maintained.
The event offers entries for two separate days on the same weekend, with the route run in reverse on the second day. Participants may enter one day or both; for those who do both, distances from each day are combined into a weekend total and a separate leaderboard.
On-site facilities are concentrated at the start/finish area and include an aid station providing water, fruit, snacks and electrolyte products, a bag drop, and portaloos. The event operates on a bring your own bottle basis. Age restrictions apply: under 12s are not permitted and 12 to 15 year olds must have a parent or guardian contact the organiser and attend the event. Entry fees are listed as £36 to £60.
