The Ultra Loop - Heaton Park, Manchester
The Ultra Loop is an eight hour looped running event held at Heaton Park in Manchester. Participants run repeated laps of a measured 5.6 km circuit that uses a mix of park road and woodland trail and includes approximately 80 m of elevation. The route passes the Boating Lake, Heaton Hall and streams within the park and is not on a closed course, so participants may encounter walkers and dog walkers.
Runners may enter for either Saturday 20 March 2027 or Sunday 21 March 2027, or take part on both days. When run on the second day the route is run in reverse. Those who complete both days have their distances combined for a weekend total and appear on a separate combined leaderboard, with individual results for each day and the combined total.
There is an eight hour time limit for each day; any laps not completed before the cut-off are not included in results. Each participant receives a finishing time and a medal reflecting laps completed, total distance and elapsed time.
Facilities are centred at the start and finish which also acts as the single aid station and spectator area. The aid station supplies water, fruit, snacks, energy bars and electrolytes; attendees are asked to bring their own bottles. A bag drop is available and portaloos are provided. Entry fees range from £36 to £60. Participants under 12 are not permitted and ages 12 to 15 require a guardian to register and attend. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
