The Ultra Loop - Manchester
The Ultra Loop is a timed running event held at Heaton Park in Manchester. The format allows participants to complete as many laps as they choose within an 8-hour time limit. The course consists of a 5 km loop that features mixed terrain, including asphalt park roads and woodland trails. Each loop involves approximately 75m of elevation gain.
The route passes notable landmarks within the park, such as Heaton Hall and Boating Lake, while also exploring trails and streams. As the course is not a closed circuit, runners share the space with other park users. Given the combination of road and trail surfaces, road shoes with good grip or light trail shoes are recommended.
Participants start from a single line that also serves as the timing point for each subsequent loop. The center of the event is the event village, located at the start and finish line. This area functions as the primary aid station, a spectator zone, and a bag drop location. The aid station follows a sustainable "bring your own bottle" policy, providing water refill stations along with fruit, snacks, and electrolytes.
The event features:
- 5 km loops
- 8-hour total time limit
Entry includes chip timing with an ankle strap, live event tracking, and race photography. Every runner who completes at least one loop receives a finishing time and a medal upon notifying the team they have finished their session. The event is open to participants aged 12 and over, with specific supervision requirements for those under 16. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
