The Ultra Loop - Heaton Park
The Ultra Loop is an eight hour looped running event at Heaton Park in Manchester. The route is a mixed terrain lap of 5.6 kilometres that runs on park road and woodland trails, passing the Boating Lake and Heaton Hall. Elevation per lap is about 80 m / 262 ft. The course is not closed to the public, so participants should expect other park users such as walkers and dog walkers.
Participants try to complete as many laps as possible within the eight hour time limit. Results show laps completed, total distance and elapsed time, and every finisher receives a medal and a finishing time. Any lap not completed by the cut off is not counted in the final result.
Entries are available for individual runners or teams of up to four people running in relay style, with only one team member on the course at a time. There is also a multi day option spread across two event days where organisers combine distances from both days into a combined leaderboard.
On event day a registration point issues race numbers and chip timing ankle straps. The start/finish area also serves as the aid station and spectator area, with a bag drop, water for bottle refill, fruit, snacks, energy bars and electrolytes. Portaloos are provided. Runners aged 12 to 15 must have a parent or guardian arrange their place and attend; under 12s are not permitted. Entry fees are listed between £30 and £60.
