Event overview

The Dan Lee Military Race is a non-profit running event established in 2023 in memory of Dan Lee. The event is organised to raise funds for the Royal Marines Charity and the Firefighters Charity, with a small percentage retained to support future events. Entry fee is £15.00. Entries opened on 22 November 2025 and close on 19 March 2026. Entries recorded so far: 44 participants.

Race details

The event is based at Delph Cricket Club, Huddesfield Road, OL3 5EG. The course is a ten mile route with 1,447 ft of elevation gain over a mixture of quiet roads, farm tracks and moorland. The event accepts two entry types:

  • Ten mile run
  • Weighted TAB - military style 35 lbs pack and ankle boots

There are separate categories for runners and for weighted TAB entrants. TAB entrants should allow time for pack weigh-in at registration. Minimum kit will be decided by the race organiser according to weather and will be communicated at registration; a maximum kit list may include a waterproof jacket, hat and gloves, long sleeved base layer, a bag or running vest to carry kit, and emergency food.
