Dan Lee Military Race
The Dan Lee Military Race is a ten mile event held in memory of former Royal Marine and Firefighter Dan Lee. The course begins at Delph Cricket Club and features 10 miles across hilly, mixed terrain, including quiet roads, farm tracks, and moorland. Participants encounter a total elevation gain of 1447 ft throughout the route.
The event offers two distinct participation categories:
- Runners: Individuals competing without weighted packs.
- Weighted TAB: Participants carrying a 35 lbs military-style pack and wearing ankle boots.
This non-profit race generates funds for the Royal Marines Charity and the Fire Fighters Charity. All TAB participants are required to undergo a pack weigh-in during the registration period at the cricket club.
Due to the nature of the moorland terrain, specific kit requirements may be enforced based on weather conditions. Potential mandatory gear includes a waterproof jacket, hat, gloves, a long-sleeved base layer, and a method to carry these items such as a running vest or bum bag. The final kit list is confirmed by the organizer on the day of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
