Dan Lee Military Race

The Dan Lee Military Race is an annual event held in memory of a former Royal Marine and Firefighter. Established in 2023, the event operates as a non-profit endeavor to generate funds for the Royal Marines Charity and the Fire Fighters Charity. The race is hosted at the Delph Cricket Club in Huddersfield Road.

Participants can choose between two distinct categories:

  • 10 mile Run
  • 10 mile Weighted TAB (Tactical Advance to Battle)

The 10 mile route features 1,447 feet of elevation gain. The course takes place on mixed terrain, including quiet roads, farm tracks, and moorland. Those entering the weighted TAB category must carry a 35 lbs pack and wear ankle boots. All TAB entrants are required to undergo a pack weigh-in during the registration period.

Safety requirements for the event include a mandatory kit list that may be enforced based on weather conditions. This kit includes a waterproof jacket, hat, gloves, a long-sleeved base layer, a bag or running vest, and emergency food. Following the completion of the race, an after-party featuring live music and entertainment is organized for participants and supporters. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
