Tour de Trail: Shawnee Mission Park North
This trail race takes place at Shawnee Mission Park North in Shawnee, KS, with packet pickup at the top of Ogg Road. It is part of the Tour de Trail series, a set of six trail events held at different Kansas City area trail systems during the summer. Races in the series aim to be roughly 10K in length and typically fall between about 5.5 and 6.5 miles; participants are allowed four hours to complete the course.
Entry for a single race is $50, with $5 of each entry donated to Urban Trail Co. There is a multi-race option for all six stages at a discounted total price; the discount requires registration before May 22. Race day registration is available at a higher fee and accepts cash, check, Venmo, or card via tap-to-pay through Venmo.
Course and event details note that aid stations provide water only and the event is cupless, so runners must carry their own hydration device such as a handheld or vest. Alternate courses may be used if trails are closed due to weather; organizers work with trail stewards to protect trail conditions. Rules include no littering, no poles except by prior exemption, no alcohol in county parks, leashed dogs only, and following the marked course. Podium awards are given for top three in woman, man, and non-binary categories, and all finishers receive a handmade stage-specific award. A special series finisher award is issued to athletes who complete all six races. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
