Event Overview
The Top of the Morning 5K Run/Walk & Kids Fun Run is a 27th annual event held in Shiloh, Illinois. The event takes place at Toolen’s Running Start, located at 3260 Green Mount Crossing Drive.
Race Details
The 5K run/walk begins at 8:00 AM. A Kids Fun Run for a half-mile distance follows immediately after the completion of the 5K. The course is an out-and-back route that starts and finishes at the store.
Awards and Recognition
Awards are given in multiple categories. The top three overall male and female winners receive trophies, as do the top male and female masters runners. All finishers of the Kids Fun Run receive medals and prizes. Age group awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in categories from 10 & under to 70 & over.
Registration and Logistics
Packet pickup is available on the Friday and Saturday before the race from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and on race day from 7:00 AM to 7:45 AM, all at Toolen’s Running Start. Participants shopping during packet pickup or on race day receive a discount of at least 15% on shoes, apparel, and accessories.
The entry fee for the 5K is $35, and for the Kids Fun Run it is $25. After February 16, 2026, and on race day, the 5K fee increases to $40. Registration by February 16, 2026, guarantees a race shirt; after that date, shirts are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The event uses chip timing, with chips distributed at packet pickup.
Post-Race Activities
