Program Overview
Students on the GO! is a structured fitness program specifically designed for high school students in Saint Louis. The initiative is open to students of all training backgrounds and focuses on physical activity and goal attainment through long-distance running. Participants join through established school groups, where a dedicated school coordinator manages communication and team activities throughout the duration of the program.
Training and Participation
The core of the program is a 20-week training schedule developed by the GO! St. Louis coaching staff. These plans are designed to accommodate various fitness levels. Students have the opportunity to participate in group runs held at Tower Grove and Forest Park. Registered participants receive specific support items, including a pair of running shoes and a finisher jacket or hooded sweatshirt.
Event Options
The program culminates in a final race event where students can choose from two distances:
- Half Marathon: A 13.1 mile course open to participants aged 14 and older.
- 10K: A 6.2 mile course open to participants aged 12 and older.
In addition to the final race, the program provides entry into one additional race during the training period. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
