Event overview
The Tom-A-Hawk Turkey Trot is a 5k road race in Aurora, Illinois, held on Saturday, November 22, 2025. The event is the 5th annual edition and raises funds for the Aurora East Educational Foundation and the A+ Foundation for West Aurora Schools. Registration has age-based pricing; the listed fee is $35 and $25 for ages 1-18, and registration closes on November 17, 2025. For 2025 the race will require participants to select a starting wave based on projected pace, with each wave limited to 300 spots.
Course and logistics
The course begins at Wilder Park Promenade on the west side of the Fox River in downtown Aurora. Runners head north for about 1.5 miles, make a U-turn beneath Indian Trail Road, return south on the west side of the river, cross Illinois, then turn right at the pedestrian bridge and finish just north of Wilder Park Promenade. The 2025 course layout is adjusted due to construction behind RiverEdge. Packet pick up is listed at Parking Lot X in downtown Aurora. Awards include categories such as Biggest Turkey to the final finisher, a traveling trophy for the high school with most participants, local pride awards, and farthest traveled.

Participants receive a long sleeve performance shirt or an optional hoodie for an additional fee, a finisher medal, chip-timed results, and a draft beer or non-alcoholic beverage at the post-race celebration at Two Brothers Roundhouse.
