Event Overview
The Gobbler Hobbler is a running event featuring a 10K race and a one-mile "Mashed Potato Mile." It has been held since 1985 and takes place in Oswego, Illinois, starting and finishing at Fox Chase Elementary School.
Distances and Details
- Gobbler Hobbler 10K: A chip-timed route that runs down the Fox River and through downtown Oswego. Volunteers provide three water stations on the course.
- Mashed Potato Mile: A one-mile race.
Awards
Award ceremonies are held in the Fox Chase gym. For the Mashed Potato Mile, the top three males and females in the 11 & Under and 12 & Over age groups are awarded. For the 10K, awards are given to the top overall male and female, the top male and female masters (40+), and the top three males and females in numerous standard age groups from 13 & Under to 70+.
Participant Perks
Runners registered by October 29 are guaranteed a hooded sweatshirt. After that date, sweatshirts are available while supplies last. After the run, athletes are invited to enjoy complimentary "walking pancakes."
Logistics
Packet pickup is available on the Thursday and Saturday before the event at locations in Montgomery and Oswego, and on race day morning at Fox Chase Elementary. The event is organized by the Oswegoland Park District and timed by ShaZam Racing. There are no refunds for athletic events. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
