Gobbler Hobbler 10K & Mashed Potato Mile
The Gobbler Hobbler is an annual fall running event held in Oswego, Illinois, at Fox Chase Elementary School. Since 1985 it has offered a scenic 10 kilometer course that follows the Fox River and passes through downtown Oswego. The course is chip timed and begins and ends at Fox Chase Elementary.
The event includes a one mile Mashed Potato Mile in addition to the 10K. Volunteers provide three water stations along the 10K course. Registered participants by October 29 are guaranteed a hooded sweatshirt; after that date sweatshirts are available while supplies last. The event provides complimentary walking pancakes after the run.
Awards are given for both distances. The Mashed Potato Mile recognizes the top three males and top three females in two age divisions 11 and under and 12 and over. The 10K recognizes overall male and female winners, Masters 40 plus winners, and top three finishers in multiple age groups from 13 and under through 70 plus. Packet pick up is available on dates before race day and on race day at Fox Chase Elementary. The Oswegoland Park District organizes the event and ShaZam Racing provides timing and scoring. There are no refunds for athletic events. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
