The Underground Circus 100 : Smyrna, GA
The event takes place on the Silver Comet Trail at 4625 Camp Highland Rd SE in Smyrna, GA. It offers multiple timed options on a mostly flat route that uses asphalt and grass surfaces and includes wooded sections. The organizer describes the course as having about 125 feet of elevation and long straight out-and-back loops with one street crossing per 10 mile out leg.
Support on course includes a main aid station at the start that is stocked with drinks, snacks and hot food throughout the event. Timing mats and volunteers record laps and sign participants in each loop; GPS watches may be used as supplemental distance evidence. The trail is open to the public and aid stations are staffed. Night running requires a headlamp or reflective gear. Wildlife such as deer and occasional grass snakes may be present. Overnight parking is allowed in course parking areas and nearby commercial lots; there are no electric outlets for campers or RVs.
The event requests donations of socks, underwear and basic toiletries, and states that all proceeds go to helping the homeless. The policy states no refunds, but distance transfers and participant transfers are allowed and upgrades may be made by paying the difference. Volunteers receive race swag and can earn free entry the following year after eight hours of service.
