The Underground Circus 100
The Underground Circus 100 is a multi-distance running event held at Kennesaw Mountain Trail, 900 Kennesaw Mountain Drive, Kennesaw, GA. Distances offered include:
- 100 Miles
- 50 Miles
- 24 Hours
- 12 Hours
- 6 Hours
The course follows mixed trail with sections of rocks and roots, gravel road, and asphalt. Parts of the route run through wooded areas and past historic views. The trail is open to the public; the event uses a timing mat and volunteers to verify laps and sign in runners on each loop. Two aid stations are staffed during the event and supply cups, sports drink, and various snacks. An indoor bathroom is available at a nearby Texaco station. Convenience stores and restaurants are about eight miles out on one section of the route; that section is run out and back.
Night running requires a headlamp or reflective gear. Wildlife may include deer and possible snakes. Temperatures in July are commonly in the mid 80s to mid 90s Fahrenheit. Participants may change distances during the event; upgrades require payment of the price difference. There are no refunds; transfers to a longer distance are allowed with payment of the difference. Proceeds support homeless assistance and the event accepts donations such as socks, underwear, toothpaste, and toothbrushes.
Volunteers who work an eight hour shift receive race swag and free entry to the following year. Registration closes July 3 at 11:59 PM ET. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
