Running of the Turkeys 5k

The Running of the Turkeys 5k is an annual tradition held in Roswell, Georgia, on Thanksgiving Day. The event features a chip-timed course that starts and finishes on Canton Street in Downtown Roswell. Participants follow a route through the downtown area, supporting the Friends of Roswell Police, an organization that provides assistance to local families and seniors throughout the year.

The following event options are available:

  • 5k Run/Walk: A live, chip-timed road race through Downtown Roswell including overall and age group awards.
  • 5K - Virtual: An option to complete the distance at any location while receiving the event shirt and giveaway.
  • 5K Live or Virtual- 100% Goes to Charity: A registration tier where the full entry fee is donated to the RPD GIVES Charity.

The live race is stroller friendly, allowing for family participation, though pets are not permitted on the course. All registered participants receive a long-sleeve tri-blend t-shirt and a turkey-themed giveaway.

Packet pickup is required before the event and takes place at various locations in Alpharetta, Roswell, and Marietta. Participants can arrange for bib mailing or race-day pickup for an additional fee if they cannot attend the scheduled sessions. The event organizers provide a host hotel option in Alpharetta for those traveling from out of town. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
