Event overview
The Tennessee Mile is a looped timed race held on private land near Franklin, TN, on property known as The Murder Mile. The event offers multiple timed divisions, including multihour divisions and a Youth 5K for children 16 and under; adults may accompany youth but may not register in the youth division. Registration closes Dec 3.
Course, logistics and rules
The course is a 1.1 mile loop with 340 feet of elevation gain. It follows an old logging road and is a wide double-track trail with two significant climbs, runnable sections, and a downhill through a field to the start/finish area. Runners are responsible for tracking their own loops and may complete as many loops as they wish within their division time limit; there is no limit on an individual loop.
Runners may accept crew and aid anywhere on the course. Participants must provide their own crew setup; large communal tents are not provided. Organizers will supply water and electrolytes, but all personal nutrition must be supplied by each runner. Camping is allowed in the main field; tents that require stakes or guy lines are not permitted in the start/finish area. Pop-up canopy-style tents are allowed in the designated crew area.
Pacing and company rules vary by division: some divisions permit pacing and company, while others allow only company or disallow pacers. There are no refunds or deferrals. Proceeds may be used to support maintenance of the property. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
