The Tennessee Mile
The Tennessee Mile is a looped trail event held on private land near Franklin, TN, about 20 minutes from downtown Franklin. The course is a 1.1 mile loop with approximately 340 feet of elevation gain. The route follows an old logging road with a wide double-track trail, two significant climbs, runnable sections between them, and a downhill through a field to the start and finish area.
The event offers multiple timed divisions, including 40-hour, 24-hour, 12-hour, 8-hour night, 6-hour, 3-hour, and a Youth 5K for participants 16 and under. Runners are responsible for tracking their own loops and may complete as many or as few laps as they wish within their chosen division's total time. There is no time limit on an individual lap.
Crews and aid are allowed on course; runners must provide their own aid setup. Organizers will supply water and electrolytes but individual nutrition must be supplied by the runner. Camping is permitted in the large field; tents that require stakes and strings are not allowed in the start/finish area, while pop-up canopy-style tents are permitted in crew areas. Pets are not allowed on site, and the house, porch, and hunting stands on the property are off limits.
Pacing rules vary by division. Unauthorized pacing can lead to disqualification or ineligibility for placement. There are no refunds or deferrals for this event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
