The Red Rocks 5K
The Red Rocks 5K is a trail running event held at Red Rocks Park in South Burlington, Vermont. The course follows dirt and gravel trails with moderate hills through woods. The starting line is at the main gate near Central Avenue and the finish line is at the picnic area near the beach.
Entry fee is $20 with a $5 discount for GMAA members. Registration opens on January 15 and closes on July 31; online pre-registration closes the night before the race at midnight. Pre-registered runners are entered into a post-race raffle. In-person registration is available on race day from 8:00 to 8:45. There are no refunds, deferrals, or transfers.
The event is open to runners aged 12 and older; runners under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout the race. Post-race snacks and water will be provided. Porta-potties will be located near the park entrance and the park restrooms will be open. Race parking is available inside Red Rocks but vehicles cannot leave until roughly 45 minutes after the race start; street parking is normally available on Central Avenue.
Awards are given to the overall men’s, women’s, and non-binary finishers in each age group. A scholarship division for those 17 and under awards the top three finishers. The event supports the GMAA scholarship fund; in recent years GMAA has awarded two or three scholarships of $1,500 each to college-bound runners based on contributions to the sport and academic achievement.
GMAA and insurance rules prohibit running with baby joggers or dogs. For safety and courtesy, the use of headphones is strongly discouraged. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
