Event details
The Red Rocks 5K is scheduled for Saturday, August 1, 2026, in South Burlington, Vermont. The event distance is 5K and takes place at Red Rocks Park, 4 Central Avenue, South Burlington, VT 05403. The entry fee is $20; GMAA members receive a $5 discount. Online pre-registration closes the night before the race. In-person registration is available on race morning. There are no refunds, deferrals, or transfers.
Course and history
The course runs on the trails of Red Rocks Park. Trails are dirt and gravel with moderate hills through woods. A new course established in 2022 starts at the main gate near Central Avenue and finishes at the picnic area near the beach. The GMAA has held a variation of the Red Rocks 5K since the early 1990s to raise money for the GMAA scholarship fund. In recent years the GMAA has awarded two or three $1,000 scholarships to college-bound runners.
Logistics
The race is open to runners aged 12 and older; runners under age 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout the race. Post-race snacks and water are provided. Porta-potties will be available near the park entrance and park restrooms will be open. Awards are given for overall men’s, women’s and non-binary finishers in each age group; the scholarship division (17 and under) awards the top three finishers. Pre-registered runners are entered in raffle prizes at bib pick-up. GMAA/insurance rules prohibit running with a baby jogger or dog; the use of headphones is strongly discouraged.
