Half Marathon Unplugged
The Half Marathon Unplugged celebrates its 20th year as a point-to-point race in Vermont. The course begins at Airport Park in Colchester and follows the Burlington Greenway, also known as the bike path, into Burlington. This route runs adjacent to Lake Champlain and provides views of the Adirondack Mountains in the distance. Participants finish the event on Flynn Avenue near Switchback Brewing.
The event offers several ways to participate:
- Half Marathon: A 13.1-mile individual run.
- 2-Person Relay Team: A 13.1-mile total distance shared by two runners.
- Virtual Half Marathon: A 13.1-mile distance completed at any location.
The geography of the course is flat and lacks hills. Because of its timing in April, it serves as a training race for the Vermont City Marathon held in late May. Along the route, participants have access to three water stations. For the relay option, teammates can choose their transition point anywhere along the course, though Leddy Park is a common location for the hand-off.
A finish festival and post-race party are hosted at Switchback Brewing at the end of the route. Unlike larger city marathons, this race does not feature large crowds of spectators or live bands along the course, focusing instead on the scenic path and the finish line amenities.
