The Nighthawk Chase
The Nighthawk Chase is a running and walking event held in Peru, New York. The activities are based at the Peru High School Track located at 17 School Street. Participants can take part in two distinct distances on the day of the event:
- 5K open to runners and walkers.
- 1 Mile Fun Run specifically for children aged 10 and under.
The event serves as a fundraiser with all proceeds used to purchase new equipment for the Peru Track Team. Check-in procedures take place at the school venue prior to the start of the races.
Recognition is provided for top performers in both categories. For the 1 Mile Fun Run, awards are presented to the top boy and the top girl. In the 5K race, awards are designated for the overall winner as well as the top male and top female participants. The event also accommodates individuals who wish to support the local track team through donations without participating in the races.
