The Original Mourne Seven Sevens Challenge Walk 2026
The event is a self supported mountain challenge in the Mourne Mountains, based at Shimna Integrated College and Donard Park, Newcastle, Co Down. The 2026 route is an anti clockwise circuit of the seven designated summits, approximately 32 km in length with about 2600 m of ascent. The route is not guided or way marked and navigation with map and compass is required; smartphones must not be used as the sole means of navigation.
Participants receive an electronic timing chip (dibber) and a numbered tag; summit controls use electronic SI boxes to record arrivals. There are marshalled checkpoints on the route and three cut off locations; walkers who miss a cut off will be retired and must return to the event centre. Retirements are marked RTD and do not receive a certificate.
The event is unsupported on the route; minimum personal kit is checked at registration. Required items include hiking boots or fell shoes (no trainers), waterproof coat with hood, waterproof trousers, hat, sufficient food and drink, a 1:25,000 map of the Mourne Mountains, compass and whistle, a first aid kit and a survival bag. Where a group of up to three walks together some kit items may be shared but the group must stay together.
Dogs are not permitted. Facilities at the event centre include toilets, showers and refreshments. Entry is online only, the entry fee is £50 with a £5 non refundable deposit and minimum age is 18. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
