Mourne Seven Sevens Walk 2026
The Mourne Seven Sevens is a challenge walk in the Mourne Mountains, County Down. The route covers 19 mile with approximately 8500 ft of ascent and visits the seven highest peaks that are described as over 700 m, though there are actually six peaks above 700 m. The event was first held in 1992.
Participants follow their own route between fixed checkpoints and must reach each checkpoint on foot. The event is organised by Lagan Valley Orienteers and is explicitly a challenge walk rather than a race; there are no prizes. Navigation skills and mountain experience are required, especially in poor weather, and participants should have the fitness to complete a long mountain walk.
Practical entry details given for this edition include an entry fee of GBP 50 and a minimum age of 18 on the event date. Entries open on 14 February 2026 and close on 27 July 2026. The mountain race run by other organisers and the Cancer Focus NI event held in June are separate events and are not the same as this challenge walk.
Further event terms such as disclaimer and cancellation policy apply to entrants. The objective remains the same: to climb all seven listed peaks and link the fixed checkpoints across the Mourne high ground. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
