The Magnificent Bastards Challenge
The Magnificent Bastards Challenge is a Last Man Standing style endurance event in Corinth, VT, organized by Race Mozey to honor the KIA Marines from the 2nd Battalion 4th Marines. The event uses repeated 1 mile loops that include about 300 feet of climbing.
There are three event options:
- Last Runner Standing: 1 mile loops, 300 feet climbing, 20 minutes per lap limit.
- Last Rucker Standing: 1 mile loops, 300 feet climbing, 30 minutes per lap limit initially.
- Honor Lap: one loop at the participant's chosen pace.
For the Last Runner Standing format, participants repeat the loop until one person remains. The 24th mile is the minimum distance to receive a medal; that mile can be run as a timed fast lap with a prize for the fastest time.
Last Rucker Standing adjusts lap time after eight hours by removing one minute per loop until the lap time reaches 20 minutes, then it holds at 20 minutes. Ruckers must carry weight in a pack only: males 35 pounds, females 25 pounds. Pack weight will be checked at the start, at the end, and randomly during the event. Ruckers who complete eight hours receive a medal.
Participants who register before June 25 are guaranteed custom Race Mozey silkies; later registrants are not guaranteed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
