Event Information

The Magnificent Bastards Challenge is a multi-format event in Corinth, Vermont, honoring Marines from the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines who were killed in action.

Event Formats

There are three different participation formats.

Last Runner Standing Participants run a repeating 1-mile loop with 300 feet of climbing. Each loop must be completed within 20 minutes. This continues until only one runner remains. All participants who complete at least 24 miles (24 loops) receive a medal. The 24th mile is designated as a fast lap, with a special prize for the fastest time on that loop.

Last Rucker Standing Participants complete the same 1-mile, 300-foot climbing loop while carrying a weighted pack. Men must carry 35 pounds and women must carry 25 pounds. The initial time limit per loop is 30 minutes. After 8 hours, the time limit decreases by 1 minute per loop until it reaches a fixed 20 minutes. This format also continues until one participant remains. All ruckers who complete 8 hours receive a medal.

Honor Lap This is a single-loop option on the course. Participants can complete one loop at their own pace. Registration fees for this format are donated to Northeast Slopes. Participants can start their lap at any time while the event is ongoing.

Additional Details

Participants who register for the running or rucking formats before June 25, 2026, are guaranteed to receive custom Race Mozey silkies (shorts). Registrations after that date are not guaranteed silkies. Weight for the rucking event will be checked at the start, end, and at random times during the event.
