New England Challenge I - May 8-10, 2026

New England Challenge I is a series of USATF sanctioned races held across Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. Full marathons in the series are USATF certified. Events take place on looped courses at three park locations with aid stations and GPS coordinates provided.

Maple Leaf Marathon - Lake Morey, Fairlee, Vermont. 82 Clubhouse Road. USATF Certificate #VT16006JK.

  • Half Marathon: 2 full laps + 1.52559 miles out and back (3.05118 miles total)
  • Full Marathon: 5 full laps + 0.5663 miles out and back (1.1326 miles total)

One full lap is 5.092911 miles. There are two aid stations: a main station at the start/finish with hydration and nourishment, and a secondary mid-course station with hydration. The course is a scenic loop around Lake Morey on the main road; runners should use the side of the road and yield to traffic. GPS: Lat. 43.910474, Lon. -72.153755.

Granite State Marathon - Mine Falls Park, Nashua, New Hampshire. 24 Stadium Drive. USATF Certificate #NH15012TY.

  • Half Marathon: 2 full laps + 2 out and back segments of 1.6 miles each
  • Full Marathon: 5 full laps + 1.4 miles out and back

One full lap is 4.96 miles. Two aid stations are provided, with the main station at the start/finish offering hydration and nourishment and a mid-way station offering hydration. The course follows the Nashua River and is a qualifier marathon for the Abbott World Marathon Majors Age Group World Rankings. GPS: Lat. 42.74825, Lon. -71.5048333.

Pine Tree Marathon - Back Cove Park, Portland, Maine. USATF Certificate #ME22001BK.

  • Half Marathon: 3 full laps + 2.24 miles out and back
  • Full Marathon: 7 full laps + 0.86 miles out and back

One full lap is 3.62 miles. There is one aid station at the finish line with hydration and nourishment. The course uses the single path around Back Cove Lake, which simplifies navigation for each loop. GPS: Lat. 43.664251, Lon. -70.266602.
