The Holiday Run & Walk For Toys
The Holiday Run & Walk For Toys is a community event in Stratford, Connecticut, held at 10 Washington Parkway in the Lordship section. The event program includes a 5K run/walk for adults, a 5K for participants 18 and under, and a short "Tykes" fun run of about 200 yards for children 9 and under. Registration fees listed for the main events are $18 for adults and $15 for youth; the Tykes run is free.
The course is an out-and-back route through a quiet neighborhood along the water. Organizers describe it as flat and scenic. The event collects new, unwrapped toys suitable for ages 1 to 16; toys are accepted at bib pickup and at the event and will be donated to the Sterling Community Center in Stratford.
Event swag includes a pair of themed socks for every registrant and specially designed long-sleeved shirts and 1/4 zip options available for purchase before a sales deadline. The event is limited to 250 participants. Awards are presented to male and female champions and to age-group finishers; some prizes may come from previous events.
