Bethel Turkey Trot : overview
The Bethel Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving road event held in Bethel, Connecticut at the Bethel Municipal Center. The event includes a 5K loop course through residential streets. The course repeats the first one-third mile as the final one-third mile in reverse. The first half of the course is moderately uphill and the second half is downhill. A portion of the proceeds is designated for two local non-profits: Bethel Parks and Recreation and Ability Beyond. T-shirts are provided to entrants who register by the stated deadline.
Logistics, awards and rules
Packet pickup is available the day before at The Athlete’s Source in Bethel and on race day at the Municipal Center. Parking is provided in the Municipal Center back lot and surrounding public parking in downtown Bethel. Awards are presented to the top three finishers overall and by age group for both men and women, with age categories including 12 & under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. After the race there is a post-race spread with bagels, fruit, energy bars, and non-alcoholic drinks, plus a raffle. Race rules note that following the marked course is mandatory, littering is prohibited, race entries are not transferable, and the use of personal music devices is strongly discouraged for safety.
