Bethel Turkey Trot
The Bethel Turkey Trot takes place on Thanksgiving in Bethel, Connecticut, and is presented by Ingersoll Auto of Danbury. The event features a 5K road loop that starts from downtown Bethel and is centered at the Bethel Municipal Center, 1 School St., Bethel CT.
The course is a loop with the first one third of a mile and the last one third of a mile following the same roadway in opposite directions. The first half of the course is moderately uphill and the second half is downhill. A downloadable GPX file and course maps are provided for route detail.
A portion of the proceeds is shared between two local nonprofits: Bethel Parks and Recreation and Ability Beyond, an organization that supports people with differing abilities. Registration opens August 1 and entry fees vary by date, with a youth price for participants 18 and under. The event policy states that entry fees are nonrefundable and bib transfers are not permitted. Packet pickup is available the day before at The Athlete’s Source in Bethel.
Awards are given overall and by age groups for both men and women, with categories ranging from 12 and under through 70 and over. Post race offerings include bagels, fruit, energy bars, non alcoholic hydration options, and a raffle with more than 40 local prizes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
