Bethel Turkey Trot
The Bethel Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving day road race in Bethel, Connecticut, presented by Ingersoll Auto of Danbury and organized by Steep Endurance. The event is based at the Bethel Municipal Center and features a single 5K road loop through residential neighborhoods and downtown Bethel.
The course is a loop with the first one third mile and the last one third mile following the same section in reverse. The first half of the course is moderately uphill while the second half is predominantly downhill, which can produce a faster finish. Course maps and a downloadable GPX file are provided for more detail.
A portion of the event proceeds supports two local nonprofits: Bethel Parks and Recreation and Ability Beyond. Awards are given in overall standings and across age groups, including 12 and under, 13 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 and over.
Packet pickup is available on race day and also the day before at The Athlete’s Source in Bethel. Entry fees are nontransferable and nonrefundable. Race rules require runners to follow the marked course and discourage the use of personal music devices for safety. The post-race area includes light food and nonalcoholic hydration and a raffle with prizes from local businesses. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
