The Haunted Forest Marathon : event overview
The event takes place on Sunday, October 25, 2026, in Canal Fulton, Ohio (123 Tuscarawas St NW, 44614). This is the 6th annual Haunted Forest Marathon weekend. Registration opens December 1, 2025. The event includes in-person and virtual options and lists age eligibility for each event.

Courses, certification and awards
The marathon and half marathon start in downtown Canal Fulton. The first 1.2 miles are on the road; the remainder is on hard packed crushed limestone and blacktop. The marathon route enters the Towpath Trail, goes south to about 7.75 miles, reverses direction to about 20.6 miles, then returns south to finish at St Helena Heritage Park. The half marathon goes north on the Towpath Trail to about 7.75 miles, then returns south to the same finish. The marathon has a total of 57 feet of elevation across 26.2 miles. Both the marathon and half marathon are USATF certified (marathon OH24034JHP; half OH24035JHP). A new 5K course is planned for 2026.
Awards are given for marathon, half and 5K. Categories include top five men and women overall; age-based awards for masters, grand masters and seniors; and top three male/female age-group placings across listed age ranges. The marathon is listed as a Boston qualifying course; qualifiers on race day receive a second medal and 18% of 2025 marathon finishers qualified for Boston.
