The Haunted Forest Marathon
The Haunted Forest Marathon is an annual themed running event held in Canal Fulton, Ohio. The 2026 edition marks the sixth year of this competition. The event offers participants three different distances to choose from, along with virtual options for those unable to attend in person.
The course features a specific terrain profile, starting with one mile on the road before transitioning to a combination of hard-packed crushed limestone and blacktop for the remainder of the route. The marathon course is notably flat, with a total elevation gain of 57 feet across the entire 26.2 miles. This layout makes the race a venue for achieving Boston Marathon qualifying times. Participants who meet their qualifying standard on race day receive a second medal.
The available race distances include:
- Marathon: 26.2 miles
- Half Marathon: 13.1 miles
- 5K: 3.1 miles
The marathon and half marathon events do not have a time limit. Awards are distributed on a rolling basis throughout the morning. For participants who achieve a personal best on the course, a specific activity called Smash the PR Pumpkin is available.
