The Hard Yard

The Hard Yard is a 10 mile trail race held at Chilton Manor Farm in the Candover Valley near Alresford (SO24 9TX). The route starts and finishes on an 800 year old yew tree lined avenue and includes a one mile tree lined home straight at the finish.

The course follows wide gravel tracks, shale paths, field sidings and compact rural paths. Sections include a canopy covered single track through Furzedown Wood with views toward Winchester and the South Downs, a downhill into Brown Candover, parts of the Oxdrove Way and running through private land on Chilton Manor Farm around Juniper Hill. Strava records show the route as 10 miles / 16.09 km. GPX and Strava route files are published in the week before the event.

Entries for the 10 mile race require a minimum age of 18 on race day. Included with entry are a sustainable finisher medal, race timing with live results, race photography, event medics and water provided at the start, halfway and finish. The event operates cupless water stations and encourages participants to bring a personal water bottle.

Onsite facilities include a pop up event cafe overlooking the finish and toilets close to the start and finish. Event parking is available via Dundridge Lane with a fee paid at the gate.
