Event Overview
The North Downs Way 100 is a continuous trail race covering a total distance of 100 miles. The event follows the North Downs Way trail, starting in Farnham within the Surrey Hills and concluding in Ashford, Kent. Participants are required to completed the course within a 30-hour time limit. This race serves as a Western States Qualifier and is in its 16th year.
Course Details
The route features a total elevation gain of 11,000 feet. The journey begins at the western end of the North Downs in Farnham. Runners pass through the English countryside, including locations such as Puttenham, Guildford, and Ranmore Common. The course includes a steep climb to the summit of Box Hill before descending toward Reigate Hill.
The path continues through the following areas:
- Merstham and Oxted
- Knockholt Pound (the 50-mile midpoint at the edge of Greater London)
- Wrotham and Holly Hill
- Medway Bridge
The final 25-mile section leads southeast toward Dover, staying mostly on trails. The route passes through the villages of Detling, Hollingbourne, Harrietsham, and Charing. The race finish is located at the Julie Rose Stadium in Ashford.
Participation Requirements
The event is open to runners aged 20 or older on the date of the race. Entry fees are set at £222.00, with a reduced fee of £220.00 available for UKA affiliated runners.
