Event overview

The North Downs Way 100 is a continuous trail race of 103 miles (167 km) held on 8 August 2026. The event follows the North Downs Way from Farnham in Surrey to Ashford in Kent, with a total climb of 11,000 ft (3,350 m) and a 30 hour finish limit. The event is run under a UK Athletics permit and is a Western States qualifier. The published entry fee is £220 for UKA affiliated runners and £222 for unaffiliated runners. The event lists 250 starters and a minimum age of 20.

Route, checkpoints and logistics

The route passes through Puttenham, Guildford, Ranmore Common, Box Hill, Reigate Hill, Merstham, Oxted and reaches Knockholt Pound at the 50 mile point. After Knockholt the course continues via Wrotham, Holly Hill, the Medway Bridge and the villages of Detling, Hollingbourne, Harrietsham and Charing before finishing at the Julie Rose Stadium in Ashford. The course surface is approximately 80% trail and 20% road. There are a minimum of 12 fully stocked aid stations, with hot drinks and food at later stations. Drop bags are transported to designated aid stations (Mile 50, Mile 82, Mile 100). Pacers are permitted from Mile 54.5 and crews may meet runners at listed crew points with one vehicle at a time. Mandatory kit and medical cover are specified and kit checks will be carried out on course.

Awards and qualification

Finishers under 24 hours receive a "100 miles - One Day" buckle; finishers between 24 and 30 hours receive a "100 mile Finisher" buckle. Prizes are awarded for 1st to 3rd places by gender and for veteran categories. To start, entrants must have completed a minimum 50 mile race within 15 hours during the qualifying period.
