North Downs Way 100
The North Downs Way 100 is a continuous 103 mile trail run along the North Downs Way from Farnham in the Surrey Hills to Ashford in Kent. The course covers approximately 167 km with around 11,000 ft of total climb and a 30 hour overall cut off. Terrain is predominantly trail with about 20 percent on road.
The route follows the National Trail and passes Puttenham, Guildford, Ranmore Common, Box Hill, Reigate Hill, Merstham, Oxted and the 50 mile point at Knockholt Pound. The course continues through Wrotham and Holly Hill, crosses the Medway Bridge and proceeds via Detling, Hollingbourne, Harrietsham and Charing before finishing at the Julie Rose Stadium in Ashford. Course marking uses national trail posts plus tape, marker arrows and chalk paint at major junctions.
There are a minimum of 12 fully stocked aid stations offering options for vegetarian, vegan and gluten free diets. From Knockholt onwards hot drinks are provided and hot food is available at Knockholt, Detling and the finish. Drop bags are provided to specific aid stations with size limits; drop bag locations include Knockholt Pound, Detling and Ashford.
Entries are available on a first come, first served basis and the entry fee is listed as £220 for UKA affiliated runners and £222 for unaffiliated. The event operates under a UK Athletics permit and is a Western States qualifier. Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and pacers are permitted from the Otford crew point at mile 54.5.
