The Event
The Canadian Triathlon & Run is a multisport event organized by Somersault Events. It will take place on September 5, 2026 at Mooney's Bay, Ottawa, at the Terry Fox Facility. The event also includes running races.
The Courses and Facilities
The course runs along Colonel By Drive, offering views of the Rideau Canal, Carleton University, Dows Lake, and Lansdowne. The bike course is closed to traffic. The finish line and transition zone are inside the Terry Fox Facility, a track that has hosted Canadian Track & Field Championships.
The Race Options
The event offers a wide range of individual and relay formats across various distances.
- Iron 113 Triathlon (also known as 70.3 or Half-Iron): 1900m swim, 90km bike, 21.1km run.
- Olympic Triathlon: 1500m swim, 40km bike, 10km run.
- Sprint Triathlon: 750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run.
- Adult Try a Tri (16+): 200m swim, 10km bike, 2.5km run.
- Youth Try a Tri (15 and under): 200m swim, 10km bike, 2.5km run.
- Sprint Duathlon: 5km run, 20km bike, 2.5km run.
- SwimCycle (swim and bike only) in Iron 113 and Olympic distances.
- Splash N Dash: 50m swim, 400m run.
- 5km and 10km running races.
Included Services
Registration typically includes a personalized race bib, a Somersault swim cap, professional timing, on-course nutrition from XACT, race photography by FinisherPix, podium prizes for the top three in each category, post-race services (massage, chiro, physio), and post-race snacks. A finisher's medal is an optional add-on.
Practical Information
Bib pickup is on Friday, September 4th from 3pm to 6pm and on Saturday, September 5th starting at 6:15am at the Terry Fox Facility. Two or three-person relay teams are available for several triathlon events. Online registration ends on September 3rd at 6 pm, or when sold out. Separate deadlines apply for ordering event shirts and finisher medals. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
