MLK Jr. Freedom Run 5K/10K/13.1 Denver/Aurora at Piney Creek Hollow Park
This event takes place at Piney Creek Hollow Park in Centennial, Colorado on January 16, 2027. It is organized as a community run held on Martin Luther King Jr. Day to recognize Dr. King’s legacy and to combine a running event with community and charity initiatives.

- Family 1 Mile Fun Run
- 5K
- 10K
- Half-Marathon 13.1
- Virtual Run option
The event is run in capped waves; each wave has a participant limit and waves close when they reach capacity. A virtual option is available for participants who prefer to run remotely. Timing is optional: participants may track and submit times using personal apps or request coordinator assistance. No timing chips are used.
Participants receive mailed swag for U.S. addresses including a running T-shirt, a finisher’s towel or giveaway, a finisher’s medal, and a digital training pack. Technical running shirts are available as an optional upgrade for an additional fee. Race bibs are provided on race day and organizers ship shirts directly to the mailing address provided.
Results are posted online and a certificate of completion is available. The event also offers invitations to local run clubs, a digital training pack for virtual participants, and charity components where miles logged after the race contribute to donations.
