The BACKYARD Genesis : Lake Wales, FL
The BACKYARD Genesis is a backyard ultra event organized by Ultra Ultras Events and scheduled for October 31, 2026 in Lake Wales, Florida. The format uses repeated loops: each competitor must complete a 4.167 mile loop every hour. Completing one loop per hour for 24 hours equals 100 miles.
The race continues until only one runner completes a loop on their own; that runner is declared the winner. Each loop is begun with a bell at the top of the hour. Once the bell is rung, runners must remain on course and may not receive aid or pacing while on the loop. The only permitted reason to leave the course after the bell is to use the porta-potty.
Between loops runners may access crew support, supplies, and personal gear at a designated area adjacent to the start/finish. Crews are allowed but not required; tents and a small space for chairs and coolers are provided near the start/finish. Runners who drop out must vacate the immediate finish area so remaining competitors may move closer, but they may continue to spectate or crew.
Event organizers will provide some fluids and limited food during the race; larger food preparations are intended for after a participant exits. There are no refunds; entries may be deferred to the next year or transferred to another event. Specific course location details are to be confirmed.
