The BACKYARD Genesis
The event is scheduled for October 31, 2026 in Lake Wales, FL. A map pin is shown at 14248 Camp Mack Rd, but organizers note the specific location is still TBA. The race is a standard backyard ultra format: runners complete a 4.167 mile loop every hour and must start each loop at the top of the hour. Completing one loop per hour for 24 hours equals 100 miles.
Only on course aid and pacing are prohibited; runners must be self sufficient while on the loop. Between loops, runners may receive support from their crew or access personal gear at a designated area next to the start and finish line. Crews are permitted but not required. Tents and small setups are allowed in the area adjacent to the start and finish.
Race procedure is governed by hourly starts signaled by a bell. Runners must be standing in the starting corral when the bell rings to continue; there are no late starts after the bell. The only permitted reason to leave the course once the bell has rung is to use a porta potty. Loops continue until one runner remains; when that runner completes a loop on their own they are declared the winner. Runners who do not finish are recorded as DNF and their total distance is captured.
Organizers will provide some food and fluids during the race and will prepare larger food portions after runners exit the competition. There are no refunds; entries may be deferred or transferred to another event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
