The event is described as a mix of beach, boardwalk and inland trails with measured elevation ascent of 509 feet and descent of 485 feet.
The course route begins at the indoor shelter and follows a concrete path toward the playground, then continues onto the Woodland Dunes trail and campground areas before reaching the shoreline near mile 1.05 where sand is encountered. After returning to the road and P2, the course continues onto a 1.45 mile cordwalk with uneven boards, then back onto the beach for about 0.75 miles before rejoining Woodland Dunes to finish near the start. The course will be marked with ground utility flags, orange cones and tall 5 ft flags.
Aid and logistics: one aid station with water and an electrolyte drink is provided in the Black River section near mile 5.5. The event is cupless; organizers will provide drinks but participants must supply their own vessel. Packet pickup begins at 5:45 PM at the indoor shelter and the closest parking is Lot P7. Race day signup is not available. Being a state park event, daily or annual park passes must be displayed on vehicles and the park closes at 11 PM unless a campsite is reserved.
Other notes: postrun snacks and drinks include options listed as gluten free, vegan and meat eater choices. No cowbells or other incessant noise makers are allowed, alcohol will not be provided by the organizers, and disposable cups are not used. Top three overall women and men will receive podium awards and all finishers receive a commemorative token. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
