Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk - Sheboygan, WI
The Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk returns to Sheboygan for its sixth year. This event serves to honor first responders and military personnel while remembering the events of September 11, 2001. The foundation was established following the actions of Stephen Siller, a firefighter who ran through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers carrying his equipment.
Participants can complete the distance by running or walking. The event is timed, and registration is open to adults, first responders, military members, youth, and children. Specific awards are presented, with a focus on those completing the course in firefighter gear, police uniforms, or military attire to reflect the history of the foundation.
The event features a 5K course that accommodates various participation styles and equipment:
- 5K (3.1 miles) run or walk for adults and youth.
- 5K registration for first responders and military.
- 5K options for children 12 and under.
The course is accessible for strollers and wheelchairs. Participants are also permitted to wear firefighter turnout gear or carry military backpacks. Water stations are positioned along the route and inside the firehouse. On-site medical staff and radio communications are available at the event for safety. Parking is provided in the park parking lot and overflow lots, with shuttles available if required. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
