Kiel Raider Nation Triathlon
The Kiel Raider Nation event features multiple race formats held at the Kiel High School athletic complex and swimming pool. Race formats include full and short sprint triathlons, aquabike events, team relays, a Kid's Triathlon, and a 100 yard Raider Dash for the youngest participants. Pool swims are held in the Kiel High School swimming pool and are organized based on swim times provided during registration.
Race formats and typical legs include:
- Full Sprint Triathlon: 300 yard pool swim, 15 mile bike, 3.1 mile run.
- Short Sprint Triathlon: 100 yard pool swim, 7 mile bike, 2 mile run.
- Kid's Triathlon: 100 yard pool swim, 2.5 mile bike, 1 mile run.
- Raider Dash: 100 yard dash for ages 7 and under.
- Aquabike: short and full distances corresponding to the bike miles above.
Swim procedures vary by distance - short swims use a serpentine style and the full swim uses lane laps with swim sides shared. The run courses include road and trail portions. Relay teams may consist of two or three members and may be same gender or co-ed. For the kid events, children may use a kick board or pool noodle and in-water assistance is offered; parents may ride or run alongside their child but must not interfere with other participants. Packet pick up is available at the Kiel Pool at 210 Raider Heights and additional race-morning pick up is provided. Concessions are located by the finish line. All proceeds benefit the Kiel High School Booster Club. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
