Tekau's Heart Memorial 5K Run
The Tekau's Heart Memorial 5K Run is an annual community run and 1 mile walk organized by the Tekau's Heart Memorial Foundation, a charitable 501(c)(3) organization. The foundation's mission is to raise awareness about heart health and about anomalous coronary arteries (ACAs) in teens and young adults, and to provide a memorial scholarship to a graduating high school senior.
The event takes place along the Woodrow Wilson Park Trail at National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland. Distances offered:
- 5K Run
- 1 Mile Walk
Past editions occurred on dates including September 13, 2025; September 14, 2024; and September 16, 2023. Proceeds from the event support the Tekau's Heart Memorial Scholarship and the foundation's outreach and education activities related to heart conditions.
The foundation reports multiple scholarship awards in recent years, including two $500 scholarships in 2023 and 2024 and four $500 scholarships in 2022.
