2026 9-11 Memorial 5k & Half
This event offers two distance options that run on the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal path in the Georgetown area near the Nation’s Capital. Points for participation count toward the organizer’s Year‑Long 5k, Endurance, and Back of the Pack series, and also toward the Summer Series. Walkers are welcome and a virtual race option is available.
Runners receive a finisher’s medal, a technical event shirt, and chip timing. Live race results will be posted online and a QR code at the race provides immediate access to results; final results with series points are posted the Monday after the event. T shirts are guaranteed for those registered before September 2. There is no on-site race registration for this event; packet pickup is available at the venue and organizers recommend arriving well before the scheduled start.
Course and logistics details:
- Half Marathon out-and-back on the C&O Canal path; start and finish in Georgetown
- 5k out-and-back on the C&O Canal path; starts and ends at Fletcher’s Boathouse
The half marathon course is light gravel with minimal elevation change. The 5k is a flat gravel trail with no major elevation gains. Water stations are placed along the half and 5k routes, and restrooms are provided near the registration areas. Awards are given to the top overall finishers and to age group placings with specified categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
