Event Overview
The 9-11 Memorial Half & 5K is a running event benefiting the wear blue: run to remember organization. It features a half marathon and a 5K. Both races are chip-timed, walker-friendly, and include a virtual run option.
Course Details
Both courses are out-and-back routes on the light gravel Chesapeake & Ohio Canal path.
- The half marathon starts and ends in Georgetown.
- The 5K starts and ends at Fletcher’s Boathouse.
The terrain is described as a light gravel trail with minimal elevation change and no major gains. The half marathon has a time limit of 3 hours and 15 minutes. Water stations are provided on course, with one station for the 5K and seven for the half marathon. Some stations will offer Gatorade.
Race Information
Runners receive a finisher’s medal, a technical event shirt, and chip timing. T-shirts are guaranteed for registrations before September 2. Awards are given to the top 3 overall men and women, and to the top two in multiple age categories.
There is no on-site race day registration. Packet pickup is available at the event. Participants should note that the half marathon and 5K have separate start/finish locations and separate parking instructions.
