SVR Winter Series
The SVR Winter Series is a set of eight in-person road races held across the northern Shenandoah Valley from December through March. The series is organized by the Shenandoah Valley Runners, a non-profit club, and is run entirely by volunteers.
Full-series registration is available only through RunSignup and only to active club members. Pricing for the full series is listed as: Individuals $60, Students (up to age 23) and Seniors (65+) $40, and Family (up to four family members) $140. To be eligible for series awards participants must have an active club membership established before the stated eligibility cutoff.
Full-series registrants receive an SVR knit beanie in one of four styles; swag is guaranteed only for the first 800 runners who check in for the full series. Individual races do not include t-shirts or other swag.
Timing and bibs: race one uses a numbered bib for all runners. Runners registered for the full series wear an assigned shoe timing chip for subsequent races; the same chip is used at each race, lost chips may be replaced for a $20 fee, and chips should be returned at the end of the series.
Series scoring uses a points system after each race, with cumulative scores reflecting a runner's top finishes and minimum-race requirements for awards. Awards include overall top finishers and age group placements. The club reserves the right to alter the schedule, combine age groups if needed, and reschedule canceled events when possible.
Inclement weather policy notes that events may proceed in cold or wintry conditions and that participants should judge their own travel and safety. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
