Girls on the Run Shenandoah Valley 5K Celebration
The event is an end of season celebratory 5K that gives program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment. It is scheduled for Sunday, November 15, 2026 at Admiral Richard E. Byrd Middle School, 134 Rosa Lane, Winchester, VA. Program participants and coaches are pre-registered and do not need to register again.
The course uses a combination of roads around Evandale Elementary and Admiral Richard E. Byrd Middle School and will be managed with race marshals and a council safety plan. Every participant must wear a race bib and councils conduct head counts to monitor the course. The event is accessible for people with disabilities; designated parking spots are available and all participants can walk, run, push or roll at their own pace. Everyone in the program receives a commemorative medal.
Community members, family and friends may register in specific categories such as Community Runner, Community Youth (age 15 and below) and Running Buddy. Registration opens earlier in the year, with a deadline to register by October 17 to guarantee a race day shirt, and prices increase four weeks before the event. On site registration is available on event day. Volunteer registration opens in February and roles include set up and tear down, registration, course marshals, running buddies, water stations, cheer stations and activity stations like face painting.
