Trail and Multi-Sport Events in Minnesota City
Storm The Bluffs takes place at the Bronk Unit Plowline Trails in Minnesota City, Minnesota. This event features a variety of disciplines focused on off-road terrain, including trail running, mountain biking, and duathlon. The courses utilize a combination of gravel roads, single track trails, and double track trails located on the bluffs.
Participants can choose from the following event distances and types:
- 15K Trail Run: Features a 3/4 mile switchback climb followed by trails on top of the bluff.
- 5K Trail Run: Includes a steep initial climb and connects with the longer route.
- 15K Mountain Bike: Consists of a 1/2 mile gravel road ascent and rolling trails.
- 15K Duathlon: Combines a 15K run, a 15K bike leg, and a final 2K run.
- 30K Duathlon Relay: A team version of the duathlon with registration for up to three people.
The duathlon begins with a 3/4 mile uphill run on single track, moving through the trail system before transitioning to the bike leg. The cycling portion follows the same 15K circuit and concludes with a downhill finish. The final segment of the duathlon consists of a 1k uphill run followed by a 1k downhill descent.
For all cycling segments, electric bikes (ebikes) are not permitted. The trails vary between single track sections and wider double track paths, with significant elevation changes throughout the courses. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
