Multi-Sport Event in Winona
Trinona is a multi-discipline sports event taking place at Lake Park in Winona, Minnesota. The event features a variety of races including triathlons, duathlons, and aquabikes. The triathlon courses consist of a swim in Lake Winona beneath the Sugar Loaf peak, a cycling segment through the countryside, and a flat run along the lake that concludes at the historic Lake Park bandshell.
Available Race Categories
The event offers several distances and formats to accommodate different preferences:
- Olympic Triathlon: 0.93 mile swim, 25.3 mile bike, and 6.2 mile run.
- Sprint Triathlon: 0.25 mile swim, 11 mile bike, and 3.1 mile run.
- Duathlon: 2.1 mile run, 11 mile bike, and 3.1 mile run.
- Olympic Aquabike: 0.93 mile swim and 25.3 mile bike.
- Sprint Aquabike: 0.25 mile swim and 11 mile bike.
Relay options are available for both the Olympic and Sprint triathlons, allowing teams of two to three people to participate together.
Youth Events and Regulations
The weekend includes a dedicated youth triathlon for participants aged 5 to 15. For the adult categories, age restrictions apply based on the distance. Participants must be at least 18 years old by the end of the year to enter the Olympic distances, while the minimum age for Sprint and Duathlon events is 13.
