Storm the Park - Altura, MN
Storm the Park is a trail running event held at Whitewater State Park on April 17, 2027. It is the first race in the Storm Trail Race Series and is ATRA Youth Trail Race certified. Participants under 19 receive a 15% discount.
The event offers the following distances:
- 5k course climbs to Chimney Rock and Inspiration Point, returns to Whitewater River.
- 15k follows and crosses the Whitewater River with views of river, meadows, bluffs.
- 30k multiple loops of the 15k course.
- 50k three laps of a 16.6k loop that reaches Coyote Point.
The course is set entirely on the rugged trail system of Whitewater State Park. The terrain includes significant elevation gain, rocks, and roots typical of Driftless-area trails.
Aid stations provide Tailwind and standard aid station foods. For the 15k and 30k the main aid station is located at miles 3.5, 4.5, and 8.5 and is visited multiple times, plus the Start/Finish area. The 50k uses aid stations at miles 3.5, 4.5, and 9.2, plus the Start/Finish area.
The event is cupless; participants should bring a reusable cup or refillable bottle. Silicone cups are available for purchase at check-in. Pre-registration is required and race-day registration is not offered. Vehicles inside the park require a state park pass; a daily pass is available at the Visitor's Center for $5.
The 5k, 15k, and 30k qualify for the 2027 UMTR Too Fun Trail Run Series and the 50k qualifies for the UMTR Uff Da Ultra. Thirty percent of every registration fee and donations collected during registration will be donated to local Youth Mental Health Programs. Volunteers receive a $10 race credit.
